Accounts function for a long time and never fail. I have successfully logged into 50,000 accounts from one IP address without any issue.
These accounts ONLY allow you to view mail and change passwords. They do not provide the ability to send emails or use other features.
Although the accounts do not support IMAP, they do have an API for reading emails. (Login and click "API" to learn more)
